The Piney Woods Regional Advisory Council (RAC-G) is sponsoring two critical incident stress management (CISM) courses in August. The training is intended for First Responders, Mental Health providers and Medical personnel. The courses will be taught in two sections and held at Tyler Junior College (TJC) West Campus on Wednesday-Thursday, August 3-4 & 17-18 from 7:30AM-5PM.
On August 3-4 Retired Richardson Police Department Lieutenant Larry Lowe will teach the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation's (ICISF) Assisting Individuals In Crisis course. The 2-day course includes defining psychological crisis and intervention; importance of the resistance, resiliency, and recovery continuum; applying appropriate crisis intervention techniques; and recognizing and avoiding risks of inadvertent "harm." Lt. Lowe will return on August 17-18 and conduct the ICISF Group Crisis Intervention course. There is No Charge for the training and the RAC will provide a light lunch and snacks each day.
